| SESSION TIPS ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
FAMILIES:
We get asked a lot of times what should a family wear for their portrait. Our answer is to be comfortable. Wear something that describes your family's personality. Or if you want to dress up a bit for the photo, our only suggestion would be to watch out for clashing colors. The only color that we don't suggest is pure white because it tends to blow out in digital photos and lose detail. Lastly, dress for the weather.
SENIORS:
It's generally a good idea to have at least one dark colored outfit and one light colored outfit. We allow for seniors to have up to 4 outfit changes. Any more past that, we will run out of time to shoot before the next appointment arrives. Weather permitting, we always get indoor and outdoor photos of seniors so please consider the weather when choosing your outfits.
If you are involved in any extracurricular activities, please feel free to bring your instrument, uniform, or equipment. You can even bring your car, pet, or any prop that embodies your interests. We want your senior photos to describe you!
NEWBORNS:
We prefer taking newborn photos when the baby is 0-2 weeks old. Anytime after 2 weeks we cannot guarantee that you will get all the "sleeping baby pose/sets" that we offer because a 2 week old baby will wake up very easy compared to a newborn. Babies need alot of extra love and attention. We know that and want to make your session fun and stress-free. For newborns, we ask that you bring the baby hungry, as best you can, and then feed him/her when you get here so that they will have a full tummy and will hopefully sleep through the whole session. We try to keep the studio at a warm temperature during your photo session to allow us to get photos of the baby with little or no clothes on. We do allow for an outfit change, but please keep in mind that any collars or bulky clothes will just bunch up around the child's face... so try to keep the clothing simple. We like to focus on the baby, not on what they are wearing.
If Mom or Dad will be in the photo, bring at least one outfit that includes a solid color (preferably dark or black) for both parents.
We will allow enough time for feeding and changing diapers during the shoot. We like to keep you and the baby happy so bottle or breastfed babies will have plenty of time to feed. Many sessions take up to 2 hours.
BABIES:
Feel free to bring your child's favorite bottle, toy, blanket, or anything else that makes them smile. Try not to schedule your photo shoot during your child's naptime. We will allow enough time for feeding and changing diapers during the shoot.
CHILDREN:
We know that toddlers have lots of energy and prefer to run around and holler. Don't worry if your child doesn't sit just so so and be proper. If at all possible, we'll try and schedule you an outdoor session where your child has lots of freedom to run and jump and then we can catch all the smiles in between.
